Jailbreak 2024!

Ireland’s answer to the ‘Escape from Alcatraz Triathlon’!

Since its inception in 2011, Jailbreak has become Ireland’s answer to the ‘Escape from Alcatraz Triathlon

Like its equivalent in the USA Jailbreak includes an iconic swim across a challenging harbour with a tidal current that can add quite a few meters to your swim if not tackled correctly.
Cobh Triathlon Club’s flagship event features a 1.6km swim from the renowned Spike Island across
the shipping channel to the DOD pier in the centre of town, a 40km single loop bike on a relatively flat
and fast course and a 10k run lapping Cobh’s scenic Five Foot Way with triathletes finally running into
a finishing chute lined by hundreds of supporters in the centre of Cobh.
What else would you want from a standard distance Triathlon?

Jailbreak has featured as a National Series event on a number of occasions and continues to sell out every year. There is always a lengthy wait list and a high demand for places despite the fact that the
date changes each year due to tides and activity in the Port. The event has now become a highlight for the town of Cobh with support from our Credit Union,
Ballymore Cobh Athletic Club, Cobh Tidy Towns, Cobh & Harbour Chamber of Commerce and many
other local groups that help make this the event of the year.
If you’re looking for an event that provides a real challenge with an Iconic swim, centred in the
